What a great idea, offer a CD of outgoing recorded messages that other people could use on their answering machines or voicemails. Many people do not want to use their own voices for their outgoing messages. Some do not like their voices and others have too much trouble making a smooth message. Still others do not want callers to know that they live alone. Yes, many answering machines offer basic messages, but most people hate these messages because they sound like robotic machines.
You could have great fun and be creative in recording various messages. Include all of the basic messages that people may want or need, preferably have a female and a male voice with basic messages to choose from on your CD. Also include messages with a business attitude, sexy voice, various accents, some comedy involved, sound affects, or if you can, offer impressions of famous people and phrases.
This would cost you very little investment. You will need to have the means to record messages on a CD, then a way to make copies of the CD. You should be able to make a good profit by selling the CD for around $30 and if someone wants a customized group of messages, you could charge $50 or more, depending on what it will cost you and how much time might be involved in making it for them.
You will need to invest in the advertising of your CD. This would be a great business to have using the internet. You could set up a website to sell a variety of your CD message offers. Include small voice clips so that the customers can review the different types of offers you sell. If you have the expertise, you may even be able to offer them the ability to download the messages from your site after paying for them first.
Sending the CD in the mail will cost very little. You could choose to pay for the shipping or charge your customers for shipping. To become better known by the public you could offer some of your CD's in auctions on the web. Word-of-mouth can be a great form of advertising too; people will hear your messages and want your messages also. Offer a gift to those customers that refer others to your website and buy products, this will keep them from sharing their CD with their friends. You could offer a special CD that only customer referrals can get, not offered to others.
