Video and Photos to Insure
0 comments
When you want to protect your home and belongings with insurance, it is best to have photos, or a video, of your things so your insurance can estimate the value of them for you, and help you get back on your feet faster after a tragedy. Provide people with videos of their homes and belongings, so they can keep it in a safe place in case of a disaster. You could charge about $200 for a DVD of the client's home and belongings. You should charge about $10 extra per extra copy, if your client wants more than one copy.
Insurance companies can be very hard to deal with when it comes to losing personal property. It is very important to document everything that you own in your home or business. Pictures and videos assure the insurance company of all that you own and is proof of the items, for your sake.
By offering a service like this, you will save people the hassle of accomplishing it by themselves, but also this gives more merit if someone else was paid to do the documenting of your possessions. Having a third party involved in documenting your possessions is more believable if you should ever need to file a claim with your insurance company.
For the initial investment to start this business, you will need to have the cameras and/or video equipment required to accomplish the documenting process. You should be able to transfer all of the items you have taken pictures of onto a CD for your customers also. This will require a computer that you can transfer the information onto and burn to a CD. Your customers may want several different copies also. Some cameras will do all of this for you also, so if you decide to just invest in a camera that does it all for you, this should work for you too.
Make sure that you are meticulous at documenting each and every item your customers have and want proof of, for their insurance. Because they will be putting their trust in you to do this, you really need to be professional and offer excellent references.
It is also very important that you assign each of your customers a customer number that can be referenced by you, instead of a name and address, if you choose to keep their information on your computer. You wouldn't want someone else to be able to access the information that you have collected for your customers, should you keep it on your computer. This could destroy your company very quickly if used in an illegal way.
You might also want to sign your customers up for the next time they would like you to update the information, set up an appointment with them for your next visit. You may have customers that will need your services often and others that will rarely need them again. Each customer will be different, but the only way you will be assured of more business with them is by offering to return as often as they would like.
