Some kids have trouble in school even with tutors, but it is not because they are unintelligent or unable to learn. It may just be something simple, such as needing help with studying skills, organizational skills, and time management. Students can use these skills throughout their school careers, in everyday life, as well as throughout adulthood. You could charge $25 – $50 per hour depending on your education level. If you have not yet been trained in these areas yourself, you may want to look for classes on these subjects and get the education to show clients that you can teach these skills.
It is sad to say, but at least 10% of the population learns in a much different way from the other 90%. Many times these people have a lot of trouble in school even when they are offered help from tutors, which have no idea of how and what to teach them. People that are part of this 10% are typically higher in intelligence than the other 90% also. Nevertheless, with these differences many need to learn how to learn more successfully. Often times, simple tasks like remembering to bring their homework to school can be too much for them.
If you can teach others how to organize their lives better, this may be the 'business idea' for you. It may amount to something simple, such as their needing help with studying skills, organizational skills, and time management. For some reason these skills seem to be lacking with those that are experiencing problems. They need a little more help in setting these skills in regular use. No matter what the age of your students, they can use these skills throughout their school careers, in everyday life, as well as throughout adulthood.
You should be able to charge somewhere between $25 – $50 per hour for your services, depending on your education level and achievements. The more successful your students are afterwards the more you will be able to find new students. Word of mouth often times can be the best advertising you can have for a successful business. You will also want to advertise in parent and children's magazines. Check with your local schools and see if they have a bulletin board that you could post your services on, or ask if you could include your services on a flyer that may go home with the students. Offer to pay for the paper and printing service and they will more than likely be happy to accept the offer.
If you do not have training in these areas yourself, you may want to look for classes on these subjects and get the education to show clients that you can teach these skills. Put together an impressive lesson plan and show parents how long it may take to help their child get on course. Make sure you are prepared to be interviewed by the parents of students, you will want to impress them with the many different skills that you have and success stories of other students you have helped in the past.
If you love working with young ones, this could be a very enjoyable business to pursue. However, remember that not only young people can benefit from your help with these skills; you may find an older group of people that would love to learn these skills also. Don't forget to include them in offering your skills too. You may even find that including students' parents in your tutoring sessions is a good idea.
