Start a Vet Transportation Service

Posted by 0 comments

Many pet owners simply do not have the time to bring their pets to their Veterinarian's office when needed. Most people would be willing to pay you to do that for them. Of course, you would need a cat and dog carrier, and maybe some toys and treats too. You can charge $20 per transportation - to the Vet and back home, even charge more if it is farther away. For example, you could charge $20 for a trip within 3 miles, and another dollar for each additional mile. The ultimate pickup and per mile cost will be entirely up to you.

Pet owners do not always know when their pet may end up not feeling well. Sometimes, it may occur when they are very busy, and do not have the time to take their pet to the Vet. At times like this, they tend to wish there was someone else to take their pet to the Vet to get the necessary attention needed. This is why it is such a great idea and quite beneficial to start a Vet transportation service.

People are usually willing to pay for their pet's transportation to the Vet for their necessary treatment. You could start your Vet transportation service, and charge about $20 for the transportation service, which includes the back and forth journey from their home to the vet. Of course, if the vet is far off, you could charge higher rates; like perhaps a fixed rate of $20 for the journey, that is about 3 miles from the pet owner's house. Moreover, for each additional mile, you could charge about a dollar or more a mile.

Of course, you will first need to have a vehicle for transportation purposes. If you do not have a vehicle this could be a sizeable investment for this business. Then you will need to buy a few, cat and dog, carriers. There are many stores selling different types of pet carriers and many to choose from; plastic, metal, and aluminum carriers. It is better to buy a carrier that is durable, and at the same time, a secure place for the pet when transporting it.

Sometimes, a pet may try to chew through the carrier! You will need to have some pet treats and toys handy to keep the pets entertained while traveling. Of course, you should have a loving interest in looking after animals and a knack with handling pets; as you will never know, the pet may get violent or panic suddenly and act strangely! If you do not love animals, or are frightened of them, then this is not a good business choice for you. Animals need to have someone comfortable caring for them, especially if they are not feeling well, for this business to be successful. They can quickly sense an uneasy human around them, and act up because of it.

Besides providing Veterinarian transportation services, you could also consider providing some other services; like grooming or shopping for items for their pet. Pet owners will really be happy to have some help with the looking after of their beloved family member and pet by you!

Your service will also do better if you place an advertisement in the yellow pages and on the internet. You could advertise your services for Vet transportation and it is through these advertisements that the pet owner will get to know about your services. You could also have pamphlets printed, stating the service you provide. Leave these pamphlets in Veterinarian's offices and pet stores, available to customers and clients, the places that are frequented by pet owners. By doing this, they may remember your service the next time they need help transporting their pets.

Once pet owners pass the word around that you lovingly transport pets safely and securely, you are sure to get more pet owners vying for your services!
