Resume and CV Investigations
0 comments
You have probably known someone or heard of people who have lied in their CVs, or resumes. This can cause a huge problem for companies hiring people, because it requires a lot of time and money on their part, to thoroughly make a background check of every applicant's resume or CV*. The research process can then cause applicants to wait an unusually long time to hear back from an interested employer. This is where you can offer your services.
Applicants will come to you to have you check their resume or CV. If you find that everything is in fact true, you give the applicant a certificate stating so, along with any supporting documents. Then, the applicant can give this certificate to the companies they are applying to for employment.
This is a 'business idea' that should appeal to you if you like investigating, researching, and documenting people's backgrounds. This could prove to be an enjoyable 'business idea' and profitable also. The more clients that you work for, the more established you will make yourself as a trusted source. Make sure that you never cut corners and always thoroughly investigate each applicant; your business reputation will depend on it.
You could also offer your services to companies that are hiring many people regularly. Many companies would prefer paying another firm to accomplish this time consuming task, instead of asking an employee to squeeze it in to their busy day, on the side. This also will help keep employees within companies from only hiring friends and not doing the necessary background checks for their true skills. Compromising the required skills and requirements set up by the company can cause a lot of harm. Chances are it could take too long to wait for the information, when they need the employees right away.
For individual applicants, you could charge an initial non-refundable fee of $60 (or more) to check their resume or CV, and then an additional $200 to provide them with a certificate and any other supporting documents that they can give to an interested employer. By sparing a prospective employer from having to do the needed research, this can also help your client's application stand out from the many other applications.
For companies that may come to you for your services, you should be able to charge more than for single applicants. Start your fees at around $100 (or more) and then an additional charge of $200 to provide them with documentation proving the prospective employee's documents and references as truthful.
A note about the fees that you ask; your fees could vary greatly according to the amount of research required by you. Some jobs and applicants may not require such an extensive research process as others. Be sure to include the quick and less expensive investigations along with the lengthy and hard expensive ones, offering each accordingly.
In order to find clients, you might advertise on job-sites, in local newspapers and send advertising to as many companies as you are able. You may want to start your business slowly until you can build up the amount of regular clients paying for your services.
